Sunday School

The Sunday school is continually growing and evolving. We currently have an attendance of over 20 children, with four teachers. Each Sunday the children gather at 9:30 am in the newly renovated and decorated class rooms. The children enjoy a weekly story that often involves hands on participation and discussion. They then break into groups based on age. There are currently three different groups. The first group consists of the youngest children between eighteen months thru Kindergarten. The second group is children from 1st and 2nd grade. The third group is children from the 3rd grade and up. The children work on age appropriate crafts and religious discussion. The children also participate in Eucharist every Sunday during the regular church service.

The children are currently sponsoring a child thru Compassion International. The children enjoy communicating thru letters with Aksa Anna Sudhin of India. They also learn about a different culture and how their small amount of money can make a real difference in someone else’s life.

The children also enjoy many other activities throughout the year including:

  • Singing during the church service several times a year
  • Preparing cookie plates at Christmas and Valentine’s Day for church shut-ins
  • Making Advent wreaths on the first Sunday of Advent
  • Christmas caroling in December
  • Performing Christmas skit/musical
  • Collecting gifts for the battered women’s shelter in December
  • Collecting items for a Thanksgiving basket for the battered women’s shelter
  • Bring a friend to Sunday school Sunday…and enjoy an ice cream party!
  • Mite boxes during Lent
  • End of Sunday school party in June with the entire congregation

The church of the Good Shepherd Sunday School welcomes all children to attend our weekly Sunday school from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Sunday school runs from September through June each year.
